“An abstract approach to Cyr wheel as a dance and partner discipline.”
Honorable Mention: Callaluna
“I used the song ‘Wee’ from the soundtrack to the film Poor Things. I was inspired by the film’s theme of self-discovery and playful exploration of the world. I tried to incorporate some of that spirit into this piece. I am an older aerialist (53years old) and some recent injuries have limited my progress in my training. I experimented with using the wooden ring as an assist and also a prop to make my limited skills more interesting.”
Honorable Mention: Deirdra Angelucci
Aislin O’Conner
“When I first signed up for this year’s event I was so excited to showcase something bold and new (code word: hard). Alas, I was hit by a chronic illness flare at the same time this song on a healing place starting appearing on my Spotify. There isn’t any deeper meaning to my piece; it’s me dancing through all my aches and exhaustion.”
Bae Max
“Eat your veggies!!!!”
Ophelia’s Pole
“Two girls and one bad dream”

“I had about a million ideas of what I could do for this submission, but ultimately, this song won out. It has been stuck in my head for well over a month, waking up singing it, muttering it under my breath, dancing in the kitchen, etc. When it came time to settle on an idea, I thought jamming out with my Lollipop for several hours would be the perfect way to “get it out of my system.” Sorry neighbors, I’m sure you’re beyond sick of this song now :)”
